WASHINGTON<\/span>, Aug. 8, 2024<\/span> \/PRNewswire\/ — EARTHDAY.ORG<\/a>, (EDO), the global leader in Earth Day advocacy, activated by over one billion people worldwide on April 22<\/span>, recognizes President Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva<\/span> of Brazil<\/span> for supporting climate education as a critical tool in dealing with the climate crisis.<\/p>\n

President Lula da Silva<\/span> recently sanctioned guarantees that climate change and the protection of biodiversity will be recognized in Brazil’s<\/span> National Environmental Education Policy (PNEA). The measure was signed into law on at an event at Pal\u00e1cio do Planalto, in Bras\u00edlia (DF).<\/p>\n

This is not the first time that Brazil<\/span> has elevated climate education on the world stage. In August 2023<\/span> at the\u00a0Amazon Presidential Summit<\/a><\/u> in Bel\u00e9m do Par\u00e1,\u00a0Brazil<\/span> emphasized the importance of environmental education<\/a><\/u>.
